SUMMARY:The Children's Nutcracker
DESCRIPTION:Dazzling costumes\, whimsical sets\, and Tchaikovsky's beloved score come to life in the classic holiday favorite with a youthful twist\, The Children's Nutcracker. The Children's Ballet of San Antonio's family-friendly production features a talented cast of nearly 200 young artists\, ranging in age from 3 to 19 and including award-winning classical dancers\, gifted special needs artists\, and many other exceptional young children through a collaborative partnership with local mariachi bands\, choirs\, and other outstanding musicians. The production follows the tale of the Nutcracker with merrymaking mariachis and a traditional posada worked into the storyline as a nod to San Antonio's Tricentennial. Holiday revelers can leap into the spirit of the season when they attend performances at the Majestic Theatre Nov. 15 and 16 at 7 p.m.\n\n\n\nThe Children's Ballet of San Antonio is a non-profit dance company that bridges the gap between young student and adult professional dancers. It is the only professional-level dance company in Texas to offer lead roles to young dancers as early as eight years old and serves as a gateway for aspiring young artists interested in pursuing a career in professional dance. The dance company has rapidly elevated the city's standing in the arts since opening its doors in June 2015. Founder\, Vanessa Bessler\, and a long list of her lead dancers have brought home an impressive array of regional and national award "firsts" for San Antonio from the most prestigious ballet competitions available. These competitions serve to identify the most promising young talent around the world with the finals being comparable to the Olympics in the world of ballet.
