The Braundera YMCA opened in the Fall of 1996, on the grounds of the Crossroads Baptist Church (located at the intersection of Guilbeau & Tezel Road.) Through the charitable collaborators between the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation, City of San Antonio, HEB, and other entities the Braundera YMCA officially opened its doors in early Fall of September 2001.

The Braundera YMCA is located inside O.P. Schnabel Park. The YMCA is a mecca for children, teens, and families, who wish to experience enriching activities in a natural setting located on 50 acres of land in the 200 acre park. Facilities include a 6,500-square-foot multipurpose youth leadership building, a 6,500 square foot program support office building, activity pavilions, 8 sport fields, a concession stand, youth day camp site, two ropes challenge courses, hiking trails with exercise and nature study areas, playgrounds, outdoor education areas and family picnic areas. The Braundera YMCA offers programs and activities that include Y School Age (After School Care, Summer Day Camps,& Holiday Day Camps) and developmental youth sports for children and teens. The Braundera YMCA child development programs significantly contribute to the positive development of children, and families by supporting working parents with the care, education and recreation of their children during non-school hours.
